Our Phylosophy
The mission of Montemaggio is quite simple: we aim to deliver high-quality wines which are highly connected to the land where they are produced. Therefore, we prefer to stay concentrated and small-batch, in order to be able to nurture every plant we have and every bottle we make. Our Wines are a 100% handcrafted product that you will recognise as soon as you open the bottle.
Moreover, Fattoria di Montemaggio preserves its land by respecting the land and its rhythm and following the organic way in agriculture, in order to allow our customers to really appreciate the natural taste of our organic wines. During the harvest, grapes undergo a very strict selection in the vineyards, and after, in the winery. Production is completely hand harvested and only when the berries are fully ripened.

We realized the importance of producing wines of the highest quality while minimizing the impact on the environment. This is the reason why we have chosen to respect and cooperate with nature totally.
The organic farming approach proved to be the best solution for us. Here at Montemaggio we take care of our vineyards in meticulous way.
We select the best grapes in order to obtain the best result in terms of winemaking.
Montemaggio follows the concept of a very high quality “Terroir” wine. We have a chance to look at the quality of wine in every bottle and make sure that customer gets a very special product. The wines have been planted with a very high density per hectare (6250 plants/hectare in some vineyards). We then produce a lower quantity of grapes per hectare (35-60 Ql/hectare, depending on the vintage), by regulating it through pruning and selection techniques.
These characteristics, in addition to the exposure (south – south west), the slopes, the micro-climate, the soil and the hard and accurate work done, guarantee the production of excellen, genuine and authentic Tuscan wines.

However, the nature of our planet has a unique characteristic: the ability to regenerate and adapt to change. Reducing our impact on the Earth, managing resources better, giving nature time to regenerate, biodiversity can recover.

All over Tuscany, and in particular in Chianti Classico area It has always been producing wine. This is something that belongs to this land and it is deeply rooted in here.
The Etruscans were actually, the first population who tried to cultivate vines in Tuscany and to produced wine.
Today we share with this ancient people the love for this land and for our wine.
Did you also know that theirs was a matriarchal society?
Women used to be such an important part of the political and economical life of this society.
This is something that we, as a female run company, appreciate and of course want to emphasize.
For this reason we decided to depict a young Etruscan woman picking grapes on our labels.

Meticolous Work and Passion
Our main purpose is to enhance and share that natural beauty with others through thoughtful winemaking, sustainable practices and habitat conservation.
During the harvest time, every bunch undergoes a very strict and precise selection in our vineyards and later we like to make an extra selection in order to be sure that we are going to crash only the best grape berries. Harvest is completely done manually, and only when the grapes are perfectly ripe. Therefore, it could be said that Fattoria di Montemaggio’s wines are 100% hand-made. Our Wines preserve all the quality of the elements that are a part of the land where they have been cultivated.
